The Cyber View from the Hill

Errors Hurt Us

In a tough game against the Storm, the Storms ability to capitalise on our errors was the main reason why we lost. We need to focus immediately after a error better.

Issac Returns

After two suspensions it was great to see Issac back on teh field. The go forward he broought to the team was really needed.

NRL Considers Coach's Challenge

The NRL is considering 2 coaches challenges per team, one per half. The coach alerts the Video Referee of the challenge. There will be a 60 sec break while the challenge is in progress. This is considered bein gtrialed in the U20's this year. I am concerned that at the interuption this may cause to the flow of the game, and may get used by coaches late in the half to protect their teams. I woudl rather allow play to flow and if the challenge is successful then stop play.

Rd 2 Stat Attack

Overall a sound performance by the team, but our right side defence went backwards. The team made 1355m and handling errors were down at 9, but missed tackles were up to 31. Effective 1st tackles increased slightly this week to 35.4m. While we did not make a large number of errors we were punished when we made them, with Melbourne scoring 3 tries in the set of six immediately after we dropped the ball.

Missed tackles was back at poor levels at 31 with King having a poor game, after being targeted by Melbourne with 6 missed tackles and defending out of position at times. But we had everyone contribute which was not good. Starting forwards missed too many tackles this week, as the main change from last week with 15 between them with Taylor leading the way. Asotasi has a poor game by his standards dropping 4 balls giving away 1 penalty. Looking at our left side defence - McQueen-Inglis-Sutton-Taylor (1-1-2-4) 8 missed tackles between them. On the right side Talanoa-King-Reynolds-Burgess (1-6-3-2) went up dramatically from 5 to 12 missed tackles between them. Our forwards did not provide enough go forward with only Burgess and Luke making more than 100m in the match.

On the positive side we had strong running games from Luke making more than 142m and his go forwardwas a important turning point in the game. Defensively Burgess and Crocker our leading tacklers with Geddes, Pettybourne and Tyrrell not missing a tackle.
