The Cyber View from the Hill

Back in the Top 8

Another solid win leading into teh bye and Souths move into the Top 8 for the first time this season. But the team continues to leak points. We now have the bye followed by 3 games and another bye during the early stages of the Origin period.

GI was great

Greg Inglis was unstopable tonight scoring three tries and setting up another. And not far behind was Merritt with 2 tries also.

Sam Burgess and Phillips returns

Sam Burgess returned in first grade and Tyronne Phillips made a welcome return to U20's.

Internation Rep Weekend

We need to remove the bye from the representative period and play representative games on stand alone international weekends. In Round 10 Souths have a bye for no reason other than to address issues in the draw.

Rd 9 Stat Attack

Completion rate was outstanding this week where we completed 31 out of 32 sets. Our go forward dropped this week back to 1170m. Handling errors improved to only 5 and but missed tackles crept up to 30. Effective 1st tackles improved to 34.1m.

Looking at our left side defence - Merritt-Farrell-Sutton-Pettybourne (1-3-6-6) was poor with 16 missed tackles between them. On the right side Everingham-King-Reynolds-Taylor (2-3-4-1) dropped back to 10 missed tackles between them.

On the positive side Taylor, Luke and Sam Burgess all cracked 100+m. With Luke averaging 10+m per run each. Defensively Crocker was our best in the tackling raking up 34 tackles. With Geddes, Tyrrell, Crocker, Clark, Lowe, Starling and Sam Burgess not missing a tackle.
