The Cyber View from the Hill

What a Win !!

I an a high quality game Souths pulled more than a rabbit out of the hat to win the game down 10 points with 2 min on the clock before two great left side tries in two tackles with Taylor-McQueen-Merritt combination was fantastic with McQueens position play setting Merritt up twice. One that he scored and the other for Reynolds. This was a great moment in the Burrow !!

McQueen was great

In a team that is dominated by Taylor and Burgess it was Chris McQueen who played great today making many breaks and having a big play in teh final two great tries.

Corrigan Bears Trifecta

Shaune Corrigan had a great day out with the Bears scoring 3 tries in their big win over arch rivals Manly.

80 min - Still exciting !

Who needs Golden Point for a game to be full of excitement. The two Souths v Sydney games this year have proved that playing for a win rather than Golden Point can be more exciting than any fieldgoal-a-thon in extra time. So get rid of Golden Point in season and play matches for 80 min. There is nothing wrong with a draw.

Rd 19 Stat Attack

The team drifted in and out of the game still making 32 missed tackles and 11 errors again this week. Issac had one of his poorest games for a while making errors and giving away penalties and finally getting suspended for 3 weeks for a lifting tackle. Effective 1st tackles for teh second half was the best all season at 21.2m after a strong forward display early in the first half.

Looking at our left side defence - Merritt-King-Sutton-McQueen (3-2-3-2) was poor with 10 missed tackles last week, with teh Roosters getting on the outside of out left side defense 3 times. On the right side Everingham-Farrell-Reynolds-Taylor (0-1-5-6) increased to 12 from 10 last week after the Roosterss targeted Reynolds.

On the positive side the team had a big go forward with 1525m. Our forwards dominated with Taylor, Sam Burgess, Luke and McQueen cracking the 100+m. Defensively Sam Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 41 tackles. With Inglis, Everingham, Clark, Pettybourne and George Burgess not missing a tackle.
