Critical Error and Lack of Attack

Souths again faced a top 8 contender and struggled in attack. We struggle in attack when we cannot penetrate behind the ruck. Also the sill racked ball penalty by Luke Burgess just gave the game away when we had hit the lead. Some lessons to be learned by the boys on the way into the semifinals.

Asotasi Returns

After being away since Rd 6 it was good to see Asotasi playing first Grade once again after his injury

NYC team fighting for Top 8 berth

Our NYC U20 team is in the throws of a battle to maintain their Top 8 position with Melbourne and Cronulla breathing down their necks. Lets hope the boys can hang on.

$1 bill ARLC TV Deal

Congratulations to the ARLC on brokering the $1 mil TV rights deal for the Australian RL. This allows teh game to now move forward beyond the old Super League / NRL days without the influence of News Ltd. Lets hope this means Country and International RL can start their recovery from being pushed to the side for 17 years.

Rd 24 Stat Attack

All hands were back on deck tonight. In another Top 8 Souths struggled in attack against a quality defence. In a tight game one critical error turned the match while Reynolds & Sutton struggled to guide the team when under pressure. Effective 1st tackles increased slightly to 33.0m this week.

Looking at our left side defence - Merritt-King-Sutton-McQueen (0-1-2-3) improved to 6 from 9 missed tackles last week. On the right side Everingham-Farrell-Reynolds-Taylor (1-2-3-5) also dropped to 11 from 6 last week. Again Cronulla targeted our right side and scored two tries.

On the positive side our missed tackles and errors were good this week up at Top 8 standard. Our go forward improved this week with Sam Burgess and Taylor cracking the 100+m. Defensively Peats was our best in the tackling raking up 38 tackles. With Peats, crocker, Pettybourne and Asotasi not missing a tackle.
