Rabbitohs Cairns Adventure

The South Sydney Rabbitohs will play home matches in three different states of Australia in 2013, with Sydney’s ANZ Stadium remaining as the Club’s major home ground throughout the 2013 NRL premiership season. The Rabbitohs will play one home game at nib Stadium in Perth, Western Australia; one home game at Bluetongue Stadium in Gosford, NSW; one home game at Barlow Park in Cairns, Queensland; with the majority of home games to be played at ANZ Stadium in Sydney throughout the home and away season. 2013 Rabbitohs Ticketed Members will also have access to at least one away game against a major Sydney-based Club as part of the reciprocal rights arrangements made between South Sydney, ANZ Stadium and opposition Clubs, as well as the Charity Shield to be played in February next year. Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson says the Club will expand its horizons throughout the year to take South Sydney to more areas of Australia. “We’re very excited about the plans for next season, especially the opportunity to take our team to Western Australia and far-north Queensland for home games,” Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said. “We will be playing a majority of our home games, plus at least one away game and the Charity Shield, at our central base of ANZ Stadium, where we have developed a home ground feel and theming around the Stadium. “Our Members have really built a home game atmosphere at ANZ Stadium in recent times and opposition supporters are left in no doubt as to whose home ground they are at when they come to ANZ Stadium to play South Sydney. “The facilities are magnificent for our team and our Members, and the crew at ANZ Stadium has been wonderful to work alongside over the past seven seasons. “We will continue to build our relationship with the people of Western Australia, and the Western Australian Rugby League, who have shown over the past four years that they want more Rugby League content at a ground designed for Rugby League, nib Stadium. “We also have the chance to take a home game to Queensland against a Queensland Club to the people of Cairns. “Approximately 10 percent of our Members reside in Queensland, and the Australian Rugby League Commission is very supportive of our initiative to take this game to the people of Cairns and far-north Queensland.” Mr Richardson says that the 2013 Membership packages cater for anyone who wants to show their commitment to the Rabbitohs. “We have been the leading Club in terms of Membership in the NRL for many years now, and our Members have shown they are the most passionate set of supporters in the game with over 22,000 taking up Memberships last season,” Mr Richardson said. “For 2013 we have set the bar even higher as we aim for 25,000-plus Members for the new season. “In previous years we’ve managed to attract over 20,000 Members without finals appearances. In 2012 our players and coaches have given us a taste of the success we are after as a Club, and as we strive to hit even higher targets on the field in 2013, there is no better time for our supporters to make the transition to becoming a Member and making a real difference to the Club. “We have Membership packages to suit everyone, whether they live in Sydney, the Central Coast of NSW, Western Australia, Queensland, or overseas. In fact, you can become a Member and make a difference no matter where you live or where you come from. “If you support South Sydney and want to help the Rabbitohs become a stronger Club and an even stronger team, then you need to become a Member. “We’re looking forward to our Membership campaign kicking off this week and making sure that all of our supporters have the chance to take the ride with us as a Member. “If the ride is anything like 2012, then it’s one not to be missed!”
