Plan B

Souths had to implement Plan B after John Sutton went off after 5 minutes. Keary came on and Reynolds had a great game in what ended up being a solid win in the very cold conditions in Canberra. This week we are the number one attacking and defensive team in the competition. We also moved up to second 4 points behind leaders Manly with two more wins required to secure a semifinal position.

Reynolds record continues

After missing 4 goals his worst run of goal misses since arriving in first grade, his record for consecutive points looked like it maybe over. So what does he do, he scores two great support tries. 71 games and counting.

Neale continue to impress

Nathaniel Neale continues to dominate the stats in NSW Cup being the top meter eater and tackler. Won't be long before he gets another call up. But his efforts has been in vain as the Bears become the first team eliminated from the NSW Cup semi final race on the weekend.

McInnes grabs a win

Cameron McInnes grabbed a late match winning try against Canberra and showed why he leads from the front. The boys are now one point out of the 8 in a 4 way battle.

Regional matches

Last weekend at Bathurst and this weekend up in Cairns NRL clubs continue to spread the game through regional centers. All NRL clubs need to extend the nursery far and wide and adopt a regional area as their feeder zone and take a game into those areas.

Round 20 - Stat Attack

Statistically it was a strong game. Completion rates were very good again at 86% our error up slightly to 6 and we conceeded 7 penalties. Souths Effective 1st tackle for the match improved to 27.5m. Missed tackles dropped again to 22 missed tackles this week. And our opposition offloads was up to 11.

Looking at our left side defence - Goodwin-Auvaa-Sutton/Keary-Turner/SBurgess (0-6-2-0) dropped back to 8 missed tackles from 5 missed tackle last week. On the right side Johnston-Walker-Reynolds-Two (1-1-3-0) dropped from 6 to 5 missed tackles this week.

Our go forward dropped against the big Canberra pack to 1353m. With Inglis, Walker, Luke and Reynolds all making 10+m per run. With Tom, Georg and Sam Burgess, Luke and Walker making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively T'eo were our best in the tackling raking up 32 tackles. With Tyrrell, Turner, T'eo, Sam Burgess, Clark, Tom Burgess and Goodwin not missing a tackle.
