The Cyber View from the Hill

Small Pack Hammered Again

LAst weekend we had a big issue just before and after half time once again. We played about 25 min with a pack of Crossman, Falloon, Stapelton, Simpson, Ben Lowe and Capewell during this time the opposition put 24 points on us. This is the second time JL has tried to use backs in the forwards and it failed.

Morgan

It was a great welcome back for Kane Morgan on the weekend in the NYC, scoring a try and showing why we have missed him all year.

Taylor / Burgess

Dave Taylor had a great game in SOO II showing the power that he has at that next level. Burgess did the same over in the UK against France setting many tries.

Reserve Grade

On the weekend Souths went out and bought Stapleton and played Capewell and Simpson in the forwards and Corrigan 18th man, one contributing factor is the Second Tier Salary Cap of $250K. This needs to be revisited as players in NYC or RG should be able to step up and play FG. If you spend $1 mil on RG contracts, that means players will be on $50-30K, and that means you can ONLY add about 6 players to your top 25 without breaching the second tier cap. This is clearly not enough when teams need 35-40 players in a normal year.
