Ovarian Cancer Jersey for 2010

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are partnering with major home corporate partner NAB to help raise awareness for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), of which NAB is the founding partner. The Rabbitohs will proudly display the ‘Silver Ribbon’ logo and the ‘1300 OVARIAN’ donation number on the front of their home jersey for the remaining seven home games this season, starting this Sunday against the Penrith Panthers at ANZ Stadium at 3pm. The Silver Ribbon will replace NAB on the front of South Sydney’s home jersey. The Rabbitohs have displayed the silver ribbon on their jerseys twice prior to this weekend, during the 2010 Charity Shield match and 2009’s round 25 clash with the Dragons. Both the Rabbitohs and NAB are delighted to be able to help raise the profile of the OCRF for the rest of this season via one of the NRL’s most famous jerseys. “It is a tribute to NAB that they have decided to replace their logo on our jersey with that of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation,” Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said. “We have been working closely with NAB and the OCRF on the best way to get their message out there, to Rabbitohs Members and Rugby League supporters as a whole. “The Silver Ribbon campaign is the OCRF’s main fundraising vehicle and everyone can donate to this wonderful organisation by calling 1300 OVARIAN. “Hopefully the OCRF can raise awareness of the excellent work they do and also attract funds to help them continue their fine research.” Tim O’Leary, General Manager NAB Corporate Responsibility and Brand, said: “We really appreciate the Rabbitohs’ support for the OCRF. Having the Silver Ribbon on the jerseys provides an excellent platform to raise widespread awareness of this important cause. “Ovarian cancer currently claims the life of one woman every ten hours largely because there is no early detection test. This is a terrific opportunity to raise awareness and call on the community to support the OCRF as they work to find the required markers to diagnose the cancer at an early stage.” Donations can be made by calling 1300 OVARIAN (1300 682 742)
