Strong Second Half Seals Win

Souths dominated the forward battle early and then came home with a dominant 2nd half performance.

Burgess to Burgess to Burgess

A bit of history today when in the 74 min George joined Luke and Sam on the field to have all 3 brother on field playing for the first time.

Congratulations Walker

Congratulations to Dylan Walker who made the Australian Schoolboys team.

Shoulder Charge

There is a lot of discussion about the shoulder chareg of late. Today we saw two examples where they turned a set of six today. Once by Newcastle that lead to a try and a second one by Sam Burgess that should have been a try. No penalties were awarded for either. They were just good clean impacts.

Rd 18 Stat Attack

The team drifted back to some old habits with 32 missed tackles and 11 errors. A better team than Newcastle would have made Souths pay. Effective 1st tackles for teh second half was the best all season at 21.2m after a strong forward display early in the first half.

Looking at our left side defence - Merritt-King-Sutton-McQueen (0-2-2-3) improved to 7 from 9 last week. On the right side Everingham-Farrell-Reynolds-Taylor (1-4-2-3) increased to 10 from 6 last week after teh Knights targeted our right side.

On the positive side the team had a huge go forward with 1682m. Our forwards dominated with Taylor, Sam & Luke Burgess, Luke, Crocker and Clark cracking the 100+m. Defensively Farrell was our best in the tackling raking up 34 tackles. With Inglis and Pettybourne not missing a tackle.
