2013 - The Cyber View from the Hill

14th August 2013

Injuries and that Melbourne Hoodoo

Injuries are starting to impact the team with two of our spine out in Inglis and Sutton and that Melbourne hoodoo extends to 11 games. A very lucky start by Melbourne had us 12 points down and we never recovered. Now off to Gosford for our 4th game on the road but at least its only a short drive. Still only one game away from a Top 4 finish but Minor Premiership is becoming a issue.

Inglis and Sutton return

After suffering a injury in SOO III Greg Inglis finally returns after 5 rounds and Sutton make a timely return.

Bears 5 wins in a row

Another strong performance and that that makes it 5 wins in a row for our reserve grade side as they move into 2nd place, with one more win to secure a Top 4 finish.

Critical one point win

In our battle for a Top 8 finish we secured a critical 1 point victory of Top 8 rival Melbourne. Still 3 more wins to secure that Top 8 finish.

8 week Home Weekend Game Gap

As a South Sydney fan it will end up being 8 weeks gap between Souths playing games on a weekend at home. This is becomiing very frustrating as a fan and something our club needs to address in future not only for the fans but also for the players.

Round 22 - Stat Attack

Statistically we improved after a poor start. Completion rates dropped to 69% from 78% last week. With errors increasing to 11 from 8 and penalties improved to 6 from 7 last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle for the match improved to a average level of 34.2m from 40.2m last week. And missed tackles dropped to a goog level of 15 missed tackles from 25 last week. With opposition offloads to dropping to 11 after allowing 7 last week.

Looking at our left side defence - King-Goodwin-Keary-McQueen (1-1-0-1) improved to 3 from 10 missed tackles last week. On the right side Everingham-Farrell-Reynolds-Teo (1-1-0-1) was improved to 3 from 6 missed tackles last week.

Our go forward was improved to 1377m this week. Luke, Lowe, Merritt and King lead the go forward making 10+m per run. With Tom Burgess, George Burgess, Luke, Te'o, Merritt and King making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively George Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 36 tackles. With Luke, George Burgess, Tom Burgess, Keary and Reynolds not missing a tackle.
