Walker Contract Extension

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to announce the re-signing of young centre Dylan Walker for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons. Walker, 18, made his NRL debut in round ten of this season after representing New South Wales in this year’s Under 20s State of Origin match, as well as the Australian Schoolboys in 2012. Walker is a South Sydney junior, the latest in a line of Mascot Jets juniors to have pulled on the cardinal and myrtle of the Rabbitohs. Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire says he’s very happy to have Walker as part of his squad over the next three seasons. “Dylan is a very exciting, young prospect and we’re pleased to have secured his services for at least the next three years,” Coach Maguire said. “He’s made his first grade debut at just 18 years of age and has shown he has what it takes to work hard and force his way into our backline. “He can play in a number of positions and at the moment he is doing very well in the centres for us. “His levels of professionalism for a player at such a young age are impressive, and it’s one of the reasons why he will continue to move forward in his career. “We’re happy he’s decided that his future is with the Rabbitohs, and I look forward to helping him continue to improve his game over the long term.” Walker is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for him at South Sydney. “I’m really happy to have my contract sorted for the next few years and I can concentrate on playing my best football and maintaining a spot in the 17,” Walker said. “I’ve grown up in the South Sydney district, have always played in the South Sydney Juniors’ competition and have always dreamt of playing first grade for Souths. “I’m living that dream this year and hopefully I can go on to play more first grade and represent this Club on many more occasions.”
