Bad old Days

Souths are drifting back to teh bad old days after 3 successive losses and lettin ga opposition put 22 zip on us in 40 min of football. While stats are not too bad we continue to drop the ball and give up any advantage we have.

Koroisau debut

Congratulations to our latest debutant Apisai Koroisau who has some big shoes to fill over the next 10 weeks while Issac Luke is out injured.

Simone continues to impress

Simone continues to excel in our U20's team. He continues to score points at a rate of knots

Sutton breaks record

Its a record that has stood for 36 year but this weekend at teh famous SCG John Sutton overtakes Bob McCarthy to play the most ever Souths FG games with 212 games this week at the SCG. He is also the last surviving player to have played in all grades and never worn anything but the cardinal and myrtle from his humble begining as a 13 year old rep player, through Matts, Ball, Flegg, Reserve Grade and finally first Grade.

Concussion Rule

After mediacl advice is starting highlight the effect of concussion on the long term health of players, the NR introducd the Concussion rule this year. The NRL is going to have a tough time making clubs adhere to these rules until there are indiepndant doctors in place.

Round 4 - Stat Attack

Statistically we improved this week. With all possesion and disapline stats continue to be a issue. Completion rates were very poor at 61% and errors were again high of 17 and we conceeded 10 penalties. Souths Effective 1st tackle for the match improved but was still poor at 37.8m. We only 21 missed tackles which was also good and only allowed 5 opposition offloads.

Looking at our left side defence - Tuqiri-Goodwin-Walker-McQueen (2-2-1-1) 6 missed tackles this week. On the right side Merritt-Reddy-Reynolds-Lowe/Teo (1-0-2-0) was vastle improved at 3 missed tackles this week.

Our go forward was improved back to 1304m. Turner lead the way in the forwards was the best making 10m per run. With Sam and George Burgess making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively Sam Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 39 tackles. With Reddy, George Burgess, Lowe, Sutton, Te'o and Picker not missing a tackle.
