We made it !

After 43 long years Souths have finally made the Grand Final. The celebrations after the game were a sight to behold. Souths fans partied in the area under ANZ Stadium for 30-40 minutes before we were asked to leave. It was a great come from behind win that finally proved the Souths are not chokers at finals time. But we once again let in another few tries late in the game.

Reynolds cracks 200 points 3 years in a row

Adam Reynolds went past 200 season points for the 3rd successive year. He has become a point scoring dynamo who is now being compared to the great Eric Simms.

Te'o has a strong Return

Ben Te'o returned from suspension and his hard hitting defence was what we needed when the going got tough. And a try just a the right moment was great.

Congratulations to McInnes, Manuleleua and Suamamao

Congratulations to our Cameron McInnes on his callup into the Junior Kangaroos. And Sam Manuleleua and Tulsa Saomamoa who got called up into teh Junior Kiwi's train-on squads.

We need a BIGGER venue

With Souths finally making the Grand Final, Stadium Australia is heading towards a sell-out in its 80,000 seated configuration. We really need to find a way to bring the stadium back to a 100,000 configuration for events like this.

Preliminary Final - Stat Attack

Statistically we started slowly before dominating 35 min of the second half. Letting in 10 points was again not a good way to finish. Completion rates improved to 84% our error count dropped to a good 7 and we conceeded 5 penalties. Souths Effective 1st tackle for the match dropped to at 35.0m, on the back of a very good 2nd half of 26.4m. Missed tackles was very poor at 36 missed tackles this week. And our opposition offloads improved to 7.

Looking at our left side defence - Johnston-Auvaa-Keary-Sutton (2-2-4-1) was dropped to 9 missed tackles from 3 last week. On the right side Tuqiri-Walker-Reynolds-Turner (2-1-2-3) was steady at 8 missed tackles this week.

Our go forward improved to 1347m. With Inglis making 10+m per run. With Sam Burgess, Tom Burgess, Luke, George Burgess, Inglis and Auva'a making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively Sam Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 37 tackles. With only McQueen not missing a tackle.
