1908 - The Wire from the Hill

24th June 1908

Another good win

South Sydney put out the light of Glebe at Wentworth Park, proving too quick and too clever in combined play the for the Reds. The premiership is narrowing dow to a two horse race between South Sydney and Eastern Suburbs.

Storie injured

Rotten luck by Frank Storie getting injured during the representative matches.

Lower Grade Referees

There are concerns at the request to reduce the referee payments for second and third grade referees. Some are saying this is the first nail in Leagues coffin.

Kangaroo tour of England

The English tour is getting finalised and there has been a request that only Australians participate in the tour. The team will wear maroon and blue. With the team to depart on August 15, it will have a impact on the end of the season. Also proposed that players who joined the league after June 1 cannot be selected.
