NSWRL Rule Ajustments

April 1909

In a meeting of the NSWRL the following rule adjustment will be enforced in 1909 -

  • Maximum of three forwards in front row of the scrum; other rows remain unrestricted.

    Also proposed was the that the game be divided into four spells of 20 minutes each. With 3 minutes spells between the first and second, The usual 10 minutes at half-time, and a further 3 minutes between last two spells. This however was not approved.

    Other motions put forward at the League meeting were

  • Appointment of management and finance committee
  • appointmnet of a paid secretary
  • The Referee Association be represented on the League by two delegates
  • That the Assurance Fund be formed
  • That season tickets be issued - gents 10/6, ladies 2/6

    NSWRL Bans Players returning to Rugby

    29th May 1909

    The League has passed a resolution - that anyone having played under their auspices who applied for re-instatment under the Rugby Union shall be disqualified for life.
