2009 - The Cyber View from the Hill

4th March 2009

Solid Charity Win

Well it was strong defensive win the Charity Shield, which is a good sign for 2009. I was extermely impressed with Merritt and Corrigan as a right side defensive combination. The best we have had in years. Great to see over 25,000 ther once again.

Best snatches 2

Congratulations to Colin Best who showed his try scoring ability with two tries in tradesman like fashion.

Rule Changes

Thre are some variations on the rules in 2009. The most notable being that tap kicks will be taken 10m in rather than 20m and the clean up of the ruck area. Good to see the 2 referee system being used like a in-goal touch judge during the kick off and near the try line.

Off Field well in Order

When you look at the turmoil occuring over the bridge its great to see that Souths have their off field situation well in order.

20 year cycles

While 2009 markes our 100 season in First Grade, it also marks a fascinating 20 year trend for our club in winning the minor premiership winning in 1909, 1929, 1949, 1969 and 1989. Fingers crossed for 2009 as the 2000 decade is the only decade in our history that we have not won a first grade trophy, lets correct that also in 2009.
