2009 - The Cyber View from the Hill

25th March 2009

5 day turnaround

The team struggled in this tough contest against Parramatta, who took us on up the forwards. A telling factor was the 5 day turnaround from Sunday to Friday.

Wesser hurt

Wesser hurt his knee is a solid performance at fullback. And just when he went off Merritt moved off his wing to fullback and Parramatta scored their match winning try through Merritts wing. Shows how critical wing defence is in todays game.

Rule Changes

Merritt was the first person charged in 2009 with the revised rule about sliding feet first in to prevent a try. Also a new unofficial ruling to protect the kickers also lead the Parramattas first try, when Issac Luke tackled Finch in the air after he kicked a bomb. This new interepretation to protect kickers has gone too far and even simple bumbs are resulting in penalties.

NYC continue their roll

Another strong win by our NYC team with the likes of Reynolds, Lupi, Morgan, VaiVai, Clark and co stars of the future.

Welcome Back Craig Wing

Craig a quiet but successful comback for the Bears on the weekend. Having a big hand in many plays. It was a cautious comeback in Reserve Grade after 3 off season operations. And he kicked a goal as well.
