Crowd Record, Missed Early Goal Hurt Us

At the new Robina Stadium on the Gold Coast we set a record crowd for matches between Souths and Gold Coast. Overall this was a tough game against one of the new chums in the NRL but also a match for a top 4 position. A missed goal by Sandow early on from a relatively easy position was our undoing. The score would have been 16-16 with 5 to go rather than the Titans holding onto a tight 16-14 lead before they got their consolation try at the end of the game.

Luke Stuart scores!

Congratulations to Luke Stuart whp scored a great try just when the teram really needed it. Hope there is more where that one came from.

Asotasi, Luke, Fa'alogo Kiwi selections

Congratulations on our Kiwi contingent getting selected in the ANZAC test.

Stuart, Sutton, Wing City selections

Congratulations to our City reps. John Sutton continues for his potential SOO selection. Luke Stuart makes his rep debut and is well deserved, and is one of the oldest on debut. And Craig Wing has been welcomed back to rep footy after returning from injury.

NRL Send Offs and Rep Matches

While the changes this year for the sendoffs and loading have worked well, the interpretation that Rep Matches and Semi Finals count for the same penalty is wrong. Test Matches and Semi Final matches should carry a 200 point value rather than a standard 100 point value that is given to a club match. Rubbing Issac Luke out of a Test Match for a incident that did not even warrant a penalty is simply wrong.
