2009 - The Cyber View from the Hill

3rd June 2009

In a simple word Flat

The game against Canberra saw Souths extremenly flat. No forwards made 100m against the opposition this week. While our stats were pretty good from a kicking and completion rates we could not mount any pressure on the Raiders. Beau Champion however continues to proves he has a quality short kicking game.

Sutton and Sandow back

Sandow and Sutton returned from injury this week and it looks like they were not quite ready. Sutton missed a uncharacyeristic 4 tackles as the Raiders attacked to side of him as he is returning from a hand injury.

Reynolds returns

Adam Reynolds made a welcome return to the NYC ranks this week. Souths played well holding last years runners up to a 32 all draw.

NSW v QLD Selections

Congratulations to Craig Wing who has come in from outside the 40 man blues squad to gain NSW SOO selection. And also to Michael Crocker who after 2 matches with Souths made the SOO teams. Not to be outdone James Roberts has made the NSW U16 team at fullback. And Chris Trembath has made teh NSW Residents team at prop.

SOO on Weekends

While SOO is a great event, we need to consider moving it to the weekend rather than having byes. This would not only allow SSO to be playerd but other 4 Nation tournaments such as NZ v (PNG, Fiji, Cook Is) and England v (France, Wales, Lebanon) on the 4 SOO and City v Country weekends.

Signing off for another week - the midweek Cyber View from the Hill
