2009 - The Cyber View from the Hill

16th June 2009

Western Adventure

Souths took Rugby League back to the Western Australia in a special double header with the Bundy Cup WA Reds match as a lead-up. It was a rousing success with a sell-out 15,000+ and record crowd against Melbourne all matches, cramming into Members Equity Stadium. With Perth adding its name to the teams wanting to take part in expansion plans when they come up in 2012.

Pack Revamp

After many weeks of our forward pack not getting enough go forward, JT made a number of changes with great success to our forward pack. With Wing moving to starting hooker and Geddes coming back into the starting line up and Luke Stuart moving back to second-row. This resulted in a go forwrad of the back once again. In another move JT swapped centers and played Colin Best to the right center to counter Greg Inglis, but Melbourne switched their attcak to our left side and attacked the new left combination of Champion / Talonoa with success.

Kidwell Trains Home

David Kidwell suffered an eye socket injury from a accidental elbow from Jon Sutton. As a result David has taken the slow train trip home on the Indian Pacific as he cannot fly.

Pink Balls

While the Women In League weekend was a great success including the great Pink Panther jersies, the Pink footballs proved to be an issue for many clubs on the weekend, with the balls having more carry in the air and a number of kicks going out on the full from the kickoff.

Wing / Crocker SOO Selection

Congratulations to both Craig Wing and Michael Crocker for once again gaining selection for SOO II.
