Northern Territory join NSWRL Juniors

20th February 2009

History will be made at Richardson Park tomorrow night when the Territory Titans make their debut on the national club rugby league landscape. The Titans host North Queensland conference rivals Wide Bay in the opening round of the national SG Ball (under-18) and Harold Matthews (under-16) competitions. It has been the day marked with a big red pen by under-18 Titans coach Michael Rawiri, who believes his troops are ready to make their presence felt on the national stage. "The boys just want to get out there, it has been a long build-up for us and I think we're all happy the first game is finally here," Rawiri said. "This is the next stage for our players and everyone is champing at the bit to make the Territory's presence felt." Stability has been a key feature in the under-18 Titans preparation with Rawiri's opening 17-man team having been together for two years, an era that has gleaned successive Sam Davey Plates at the national schoolboys level. The Titans have also benefited from the presence of former Kangaroo Rod "Rocket" Reddy during the week and his guidance has been greatly appreciated.
