Dally M Award - Headline Moment of the Year

8th September 2009

Nathan Merritt’s last minute field goal against the Wests Tigers was awarded the Peter Frilingos Memorial Award for the headline moment of the year at the 2009 Dally M Awards tonight (Tuesday) in Sydney. Merritt’s right-foot strike was the talk of the NRL when he sunk the Tigers with his field goal which he kicked from out towards the eastern touchline at the Sydney Cricket Ground during the NRL’s Heritage Round in round ten of this year’s NRL premiership. The Rabbitohs won the game 23 points to 22, with the newspapers claiming this was the game Rugby League needed to get back on track after some negative headlines which dominated the game early in the season. Congratulations to Nathan Merritt on winning the Peter Frilingos Memorial Award for the headline moment of the year in 2009.
