The South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed utility forward Paul Carter for the remainder of the 2015 season, plus the 2016 season, today. Carter, 23, is a former Australian Schoolboys, NSW Residents and NSW under 20s representative who made his first grade debut with the Gold Coast Titans in round one of the 2014 season, going on to make 21 appearances for the Gold Coast. Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire is looking forward to having Carter join the squad. “Paul showed during his time at the Titans that he is a quality NRL footballer and we’re looking forward to working with him and bringing him into our Club and our culture,” Coach Maguire said. “Paul is very capable of performing consistently at the top level and with hard work and dedication he will have opportunities to ply his trade here at South Sydney. “Paul will join our squad this week and during our discussions he has indicated that he will be working very hard to earn a place in our top 17.” Carter is excited about the opportunity to join the Rabbitohs mid-season. “The Rabbitohs have shown faith in me as a person and a footballer to get the job done for the Club, and I thank the Club for giving me this opportunity,” Carter said. “From my meetings with ‘Madge’ and from what I know about the Club, I’m very fortunate to be getting an opportunity to start my career again with such a fantastic Club and it’s something I won’t be taking for granted. “I can’t wait to get stuck into training with the boys and I’ll be putting my best foot forward on and off the field for South Sydney and the Club’s Members. “I’m really excited and can’t wait to pull on the famous red and green jersey of the Rabbitohs.”
