2016 - The Cyber View from the Hill

22nd June 2016

Season slipping away

Another loss, this time without Origin stars, sees our season slipping further and further away. Another game where we only put in a 60 minute performance and fell away once again Finals berth is now looking extremely difficult with 8 more wins out of 10 games to qualify for the finals.

Talakai starts

Siosifa Talakai has taken his place in the starting line up and put in a strong effort and continues to look right at home in first grade.

Jamel Hunt and Robinson step up

Two more players make ther Bears debut from our U20s side this week with Robinson and Jamel Hunt being selected this week after good performances.

Murray leads U18s to victory

Congratulations to Cameron Murray who was named U18s captain and led the NSW U18s team to great victory midweek.

NRL split rounds are duds

No matter which way you look at it playing split rounds during the SOO period to try and accomodate midweek SOO mattches continues to hurt club football. With 6 weekends effected with sub standard NRL matches, something needs to be done. SOO is too big for its own boots.

Round 15 - Stat Attack

Statistically it was a good start to a horrid finish. Completion rates dropped to 73% from 77% this week. Errors increased to 12 from 10 last week. We gave away 10 penalities compared to 9 last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle was still at a horrid level at 45.9m from 47.1m last week. With our second best first half of 25.0m to our worst second half of 66.7m. Our missed tackles improved to 25 missed tackles from 35 last week. Opposition offloads improved to 5 from 17 last week.

Looking at our left side defence - Nielsen-Talakai-Walker-Sutton (1-0-1-1) improved to 3 from 8 missed tackles last week. On the right side AGray-Auvaa-Keary-Turner/Carter (3-2-3-1) improved to 9 from 16 missed tackles last week.

Our go forward this week dropped to 1014m. Our worst all year. Tom Burgess and Brown made 10+m per run. With no one making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively Sam Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 37 tackles. With Tyrrell, Turner, Cook, Brown and Talakai not missing a tackle.
