2016 - The Cyber View from the Hill

6th July 2016

Forwards Dominated

It was a game between the 2014 premiers and the 2015 preimers. But it ended in a lesson on what we used to be. Five losses in a row, is our longest losing sequence since 2008. Our forwards were totally dominated. Our strength in 2014 has become our archilles heal in 2016. Finals berth is now moved into sudden death mode 8 more wins out of 8 games to qualify for the finals.

Inglis SOO III selection

Congratulations to Greg Inglis who has once again been selectedin SOO for Queensland.

Crichton returns

After missing almost all of the season so far Angus Crichton made a timely return from injury in U20s and helped them break a 10 game losing streak.

Cottrell NSW U20 SOO selection

Congrtulations to Teveita Cottrell who has mde the NSW U20 origin team.

Off field dramas

Off field drams continue to impact the great South Sydney club. With Auva'a with a drug breach and Carter going into a alchohol facility in Thailand. We need to get our house back in order. There are so many off field issues to deal with. The aftermath of success has been a loss of focus on premiership success.

Round 17 - Stat Attack

Statistically once again a poor game with our forwards dominated and we were forced to tackle all day. Completion rates dropped to 71% from 80% this week. Errors incresed to 11 from 7 last week. We gave away 10 penalities compared to 8 last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle dropped to a diabolical level of 53.4m from 32.6m last week. Our worst all year. Our missed tackles dropped to 26 missed tackles from 20 last week. Opposition offloads improved to 9 from 11 last week.

Looking at our left side defence -JBurgess-Inglis-Keary-Sutton (2-2-1-1) dropped to 6 from 4 missed tackles last week. On the right side Johnston-AGray-Reynolds-Turner (1-0-0-1) improved to 2 from 6 missed tackles last week.

Our go forward this week dropped to 1141m. Walker made 10+m per run. Walker and Johnston making 100+m in the match. Defensively Sutton was our best in the tackling raking up 50 tackles. With Reynolds, aaron Gray and Tasi not missing a tackle.
