2017 - The Cyber View from the Hill

9th August 2017

Retro Round win

The finals pressure valve has been released and good come from behind win results. It was good how youth of Campbell, Fuimaono, Cricton and Murray has brought some new found spirit back into the team. Then add a great sideline conversion by Reynolds to win the match. Now to try and finish the season with a few wins.

Graham First Grade Debut

Congratulations on Campbell Graham on making his first Grade debut. He becomes the 1136th First Grade Rabbitohs player. He has stepped up through the grades quicking and at the satrt of 2015 was playing U16s. Lets hope he becomes the missing link on our right wing.

Tasi bags 5 tries

What a game by Tautalatasi Tasi. Playing left wing after a few weeks back from his injury,he has starred in a dominate wing performance. In scoring his 5 tries he work to do make these tries, not just being on the end of backline moves. He is also up to 10 tries for the season. After a brief first grade cameo, he should on the road to a comeback.

Cordtz damaging from the back

Beau Cordtz continues to cause havoc as he chimes into the backline. He notched up another try. His 11th for the season. He has a strog step from both his left and right foot and speed off the mark.

SCG Scheduling Disaster

What the hell was that NRL. Playing a special retro round match at the SCG on a very un-retro timeslot of 6pm on a Friday. This was a insult to fans and old players. This match should have played on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the SCG. Everyone was in shock when this match schedule was read out. So many fans just couldn't make the game. Kicking off U20s at 3:45pm when School when kids get home from School between 3:00 and 3:30pm is plain dumb. Its decisions like this that continue to drive crowd figures down. Overall crowds are down 2.5% in 2017 on the same period last year. And way behind the desired 20,000 season crowd average target.

Round 22 - Stat Attack

Statistically a much better performance. Except for missed tackles. Completion rates improved to a good level of 81% from 70% last week. Errors were dropped to 8 from 14 last week. We gave away 6 penalities from 9 last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle improved to a average level of 31.4m from 40.8m last week. Our missed tackles dropped to a disasterous level of 48 missed tackles from 36 last week. Our worst all year. Opposition offloads dropped to 11 from 12 last week.

Looking at our left side defence - Goodwin-TFuimaono-Walker-Sutton/SBurgess (2-4-6-3) dropped to 15 from 8 missed tackles last week. On the right side Graham-HHunt-Reynolds-Crichton (1-4-5-3) was dropped to 13 from 11 missed tackles last week. Ruck defence TBurgess/GBurgess-Cook/Farah-Musgrove/Turner-SBurgess/Murray (4-5-6-4) was dropped to 17 from 14 missed tackles last week.

Our go forward this week improved to 1810m from 1499m. Our best all year. Tom Burgess, Musgrove, George Burgess, Turner, Murray, Johnston, Goodwin, Tyrell Fuimaono, Hymel Hunt and Walker made 10+m per run. Sam Burgess, Musgrove, Crichton, Tom Burgess, Cook, Johnston, Goodwin, Tyrell Fuimaono and Graham making 100+m in the match. Defensively Cook was our best in the tackling raking up 42 tackles. Everyone missing a tackle.
