Halloway came across to South Sydney after spending a number of seasons in the lower grades with Easts. He made his South Sydney senior grade debut in Round 1 1936 Reserve Grade clash against Eastern Suburbs at the Sports Ground. Two weeks later he was called up to make his first grade premiership debut in Round 3 1936 against St George at Earl Park.
Halloway would play two seasons with South Sydney. He played 7 first grade games, which included 5 first grade premiership games. He played 20 senior grade games, which included 18 senior grade premiership games.
Halloway played his final first grade premiership game in Round 11 1936 against Newtown at Henson Park. He played a further season with South Sydney and played his final senior grade game in Round 8 1937 against North Sydney at North Sydney Oval. He trialled with South Sydney in 1938, but failed to be graded.
