Pittard transfered to South Sydney mid-season 1968 after going to court in a Dennis Tutty style of dispute over a transfer fee imposed by Wests when he had concluded his contract. South Sydney however decided to pay Wests the nominated $8,000 transfer fee for his services, due to a early season form slump.
