Ken Stephen - South Sydney Player Report

Five Eighth

FG Player - 389

He was also appointed as Souths first grade captain before Jack Rayner pulled of the 1949 Queensland tour by NSW. But never got the opportunity to captain the team as Ken's career was cut short after a bad injury late in the season. He became a long-serving secretary of the NSWRL. In 1967 he succeeded Harold Matthews and following the appointment of John Quayle in 1983, took on the role of Administrative Manager. After he passed away in 1988 his memory is perpetuated by the Ken Stephen Medal for services to the game and to the community, which was also first presented in 1988.
