Lisle arrived at the game 10 minutes before kickoff, after getting caught up around flooded roads as he came back from Canberra, where he had been running in the Canberra Gift as a professional spinter. Lisle injured his hamstring early in the second half and went off. Rival coach Clive Churchill was removed from the Souths dressing room after the match.
