2009 - The Cyber View from the Hill

27th May 2009

Another 5 day Turnaround

In a very wet match Souths fought bravyly after another 5 day turnaround that sapped their energy to draw the match against Parramatta in golden point. Some bizare decisions later in the match left everyone scratching their heads.

Simpson at 5/8

Simpson filled in very well at 5/8 making 35 tackles without a miss as he was targeted by the bigger Parramatta forwards.

Vaivai makes it 5 tries in 2 weeks

Junior Vaivai is proving a handful in NYC scoring 5 tries in the last two weeks.

Scrum Timeouts

A rule brought in at the start of the year had everyone confused tonight. Before all you had to do was pack a scrum to obtain a timeout, in 2009 you now need to remain with your head in the scrum to maintain the timeout. As soon as a second rower pocks his head uup to see what is the delay ttime is blwon back on. The rule change was brought in to stop players swapping out after the scrum was formed, but this simpel head movement is beyond reasonable.

Robinson scores again

Reece Robinson is making a habit of scoring tries in the NSW Cup and continues to be up near the leaders on teh try scoring lists.
