2009 - The Cyber View from the Hill

20th August 2009

Injuries

Injures are starting to bite for the first time this season. On the weekend Crocker ankle, Talanoa knee, Champion broken knuckle and Wing's hamstring going again after SOO. Add this to Asotasi's, Wesser and Corrigan's injuries and our two lower grade injuries of Cleal and Greenfield and we will be testing our depth for the rest of the year.

Reserve Grade

We really need to address the issue of the reserve grade structure next year. This year the NSW Cup has been of significant lower standards than in prior years. We need to seriously consider two options, 1 - being a national resreve grade structure/with a merged NSW Cup/Bundy Cup or 2 - a 16 team NSW reserve grade based structure with the 12 teams in NSW plus Adelaide, Perth, Newtown, Balmain. All playing on match days.

Battle for the 8

The loss on the weekend really hurt our chances for the top 8. It put us in a sudden death mode for the rest of the year.

NYC Continue their charge

Our NYC has almost cemented a spot in the top 8 with a win this weekend should secure our position.

Vai Vai

While our injury toll mounts, opportunity knocks with Junior Vai Vai getting his chance this week. I am really looking forward to see how he will mix it with the big boys.

Signing off for another week - the midweek Cyber View from the Hill
