The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their team to take on the Newtown Jets in the Return to Redfern Members Only trial match next Saturday 5 February at the Australian Technology Park Performance Centre at Redfern Oval. Rabbitohs Head Coach John Lang has named a 23-man squad for his team’s first hit out for 2011. The squad features eleven players from the Rabbitohs’ full time squad, with Ben Ross set to make his comeback to the Rugby League field as captain after missing the last two seasons with a serious neck injury. The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ players not taking part in the match will conduct a collection pre-match and at half time of the main game, helping to raise funds for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund to assist victims of the recent Queensland floods.
It is fitting that the two teams will contest the Rayner-Farrell trophy that takes its name from two club legends - South Sydney's Jack Rayner and Newtown's Frank 'Bumper' Farrell.
The main game kicks off at 6pm with an SG Ball match between South Sydney and Balmain commencing at 3:30pm. Gates open at 3pm. The Rabbitohs’ Return to Redfern 2010 team is:
