South Sydney v Northern Pride

The 2014 Premiership winnig South Sydney Rabbitohs will take on the State Champion Northern Pride on Saturday 14 February at Redfern Oval, with the day promising to be as nostalgic as ever. Based in Cairns, the Northern Pride are a Queensland rugby league club who were victorious in the 2014 Intrust Super Cup. The Pride went on to defeat the Penrith Panthers in the 2014 NRL State Championships. What better way to Return to Redfern in 2015 then with a matchup of champions!

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their team for the Return to Redfern match against the 2014 NRL State Champions, the Northern Pride, to be played at Redfern Oval this Saturday at 6pm. Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire has named John Sutton, Glenn Stewart, Thomas Burgess and Ben Lowe in his starting forward pack for this game, complemented by a host of young, up-and-coming players within the Rabbitohs’ ranks. Sutton will captain the side at the Rabbitohs’ spiritual home of Redfern Oval, with Stewart set to play in a Rabbitohs jersey for the first time. Return to Redfern will also feature a host of fantastic family entertainment including a Junior Member Clinic at 3:45pm; a Ladies League OzTag exhibition match kicking off at 4:35pm; free jumping castle for the kids; the traditional South Sydney jersey presentations to new recruits by South Sydney legends; the 2015 squad presentation; ceremonial kick off by South Sydney legend Eric Simms; plus a photo booth for ticket holders to have their photo taken with the 2014 NRL Premiership Trophy, the 2015 NRL Auckland Nines Trophy and a South Sydney player. Gorman was out injured. Auva'a and C.Walker were unavailable due to suspension. Inglis, Turner, Grevsmuhl and Walker were on representative duties.

The Rabbitohs are gearing up for a strong pre-season including the symbolic Return to Redfern fixture on Saturday 14 February. The Rabbitohs release to Members and fans the 2015 Return to Redfern jersey. Featuring a new look new look black design with strong South Sydney links including silhouettes of the iconic Redfern post office building built in 1882 and historic buildings on Redfern St and at Redfern Station, Members and supporters can pay homage to the past, present and future of the Rabbitohs.
