2015 NRL Premiership - Round 8 Teams

Souths Sydney v Canberra

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their teams for round eight of the 2015 NRL Telstra Premiership, against the Canberra Raiders, to be played at Barlow Park in Cairns on Sunday 26 April at 4pm. Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire has named the same 17 players that took on the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks last night in Monday Night Football. Rabbitohs second rower Chris McQueen will play his 100th NRL match this Sunday afternoon, all of which have been for the Rabbitohs. McQueen made his first grade debut against the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval in round 22, 2009, and has gone to play 99 NRL matches for South Sydney, five State of Origin matches for Queensland and one match for the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII. Rugby League fans in Cairns will have the chance to have their photo taken with the NRL Premiership Trophy at Barlow Park on Sunday, simply by coming to the game and visiting the Premiership Trophy marquee. The game will also feature a pre-game ANZAC commemoration ceremony, commemorating 100 years of service, as part of the NRL’s ANZAC Round. Turner, Reynolds, Sutton, Sorenson, Whitelaw, Crichton, Taukafa, Musgrove, PJ Los'e, Cottrell, Makore-Boyce were unavailable due to injury. Auva'a is out suspended.

The Rabbitohs will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli during the league-wide ANZAC Round by donning a Commemorative jersey. The South Sydney Rabbitohs will meet the Canberra Raiders at Barlow Park, Cairns on Sunday 26 April, wearing a design inspired by the Redfern War Memorial found in the northwest corner of Redfern Park. This memorial has held significant importance to the local community since its unveiling in 1918, paying tribute to those from the area that served in World War One. The granite and marble soldier that stands tall in the park will also stand tall on the front and back of the Rabbitohs jersey. The jersey also acknowledges the close ties between Australia and New Zealand, with the first line of both national anthems gracing the front. Also featured on the strip will be the logo of the Commando Welfare Trust on the upper- centre chest, with $10 donated to the trust from each sale of the 2015 Commemorative Jersey.
