Cameron Murray Dally M Lock of the Year

2nd October 2019

South Sydney Rabbitoh and local Junior, Cameron Murray has been awarded the Dally M Lock of the Year for 2019. Murray has had a break-through year in what's only been a short career so far, after making his debut in Round 8, 2017 against the Brisbane Broncos. His consistent week-to-week club performances earned him a NSW Blues spot, which saw them take out the State of Origin title in July. Since then, Murray's game has gone to another level and has been a real leader in the South Sydney forward pack. Murray's ability to poke his nose in-between defenders has had experts crown him as having the "quickest play-the-ball" in the game. While not the biggest, pound-for-pound Murray is one of the strongest players in the competition and has a special ability to break tackles. This was showcased particularly in the Round 24 win against the Warriors, when he bumped off multiple defenders to slide over for a double! His defensive technique is textbook and we've seen him develop the ability to play on the edge when called upon. Congratulations Cameron on winning this award.
