Assessment week
The week off, and its been a time assess how we will approach the back third of the season. We are in a do or die scenario compounded against a horrific injury toll. The team is too reliant on the big playmakers to win the game, rather than playing as a team in attack. How the greatest coach responds to this, is something all fans are watching. Its now off to Parramatta to play last years premiers who are on a surge back into Top 8.
New Training Injuries
We had the week off and we can't take a trick as more injuries mount. This time its Cody Walker, Davvy Moale and Campbell Graham, who we were ruled out over the weekend. Moale went under the knife to repair a wrist injury he has been carrying for 10 to 12 weeks. While the aging Cody Walker broke down for his 6th soft tissue injury of season 2025. Graham continues to struggle.
Fletcher consistant
One player who has had a succeful steady return from injury in 2025 has been Thomas Fletcher. A big strong second rower, he had a slow hesitant start to 2025 but has been steady improving with his strong running at second row. It looks like he is over his injuries and was rewarded being named as 18th man this week.
Tovio double
Lancelot Tovio continues his development this year having stepped up from U19s mid season. Normally a centre, he is filling in on the wing and playing very well with his strong carries back from the line. This week he was on the end of two great backline movements to score a double.
Rae double
One of the greatest womens rugby league tries was scored on the weekend, by KIana Rae. A very fast runner, with a deceptive swerve. She scored a 80m runnaway try beating 4 defenders on the way. Her second for the afternoon. SIt back and enjoy it.
Rabbitohs Injury crisis
There is no other way to describe it, South Sydney are in the middle of a injury crisis. This week I counted 2 full teams of 13 on the side lines across all 3 grades. If feels like we have gone backwards in regards to injury management compared to 2025. There are reorts of the rehab team recommending a player not play, but then staff letting the player decide if he ready to play. Something is clearing not right in our gameday preperation, squad management and return from rehab process. The club needs to performa independant review of the situation and address this going forward.
