No Rabbitohs Magic
South Sydney went into the game Mitchell and Gray under a big injury cloud and produced a sub majic performance The had a poor start and once again let in 24 points in 60 minutes before they started to play. Again we have one good game then one poor game. We need to improve our consistency. Backline injuries are starting to mount up which is a concern after a good start. Still 8 more wins to make the finals. Now off to Townsville to play a in form Cowboys for the first time in 6 years.
Arrow Tragic News
Mid week it what call only called tragic news, Jai Arrow finally announced his retirement. After struggling with a shoulder injury and extensive medical tests it was confirmed the injury was nerve related and was the devestating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). At 30 years old it was devisting news to Jai but also the whole SOuth Sydney family. All our hearts go out to him and his family in what will be a very tough period coming up.
Glover pinpoint goalkicking
Glover has been a steady influence over the reserve grade squad a South Sydney. His kicking game helped the team maintain fiedl position and his accurate goalkicking was a key factor in the win on the weekend. He has been steadily improving and a key member of the team now he looks to have recovered from his injuries.
Junior City Reps
A number of our juniors were called up into junior representative squads on the weekend. The boys played a U16 and 18 age only City v Country clashes with Ben Kaberry U18s, and Devida Hopoate and Josaiah Manuofetoa in U16s. In the girls it was U19s and U17s girls clash in a City Country format with Kiara McGregor in U19s and Cobi Ryan-Last in U17s. Congratulations to all.
Magic Round Pro and Cons
It was interesting watching the weekend of Magic Round. We are starting see a drop in on overall attendances with stands more empty than in the past for individual games. With the overall crowds 20% down the season round average. But in reverse the off field events and activities look to be just as strong as in the past. The Beetson Hotel owned by the NRL is having a roaring trade, as are many pubs around Claxton St. The event is a winner for the Queensland economy, but the majic seems to be wareing off.
