2026 - The Cyber View from the Hill

22nd Jul 2026

Horrid Start again

In scenes that resembled our start to the Canberra game in Perth, the Rabbitohs got off to another horrid start, letting in 5 tries before half time. This is the fourth time we have let the opposition dominate us in the first half, and our worst of the season thus far. Once the team was able to regroup at half time and get the emotio of last week out of their system, they came home strong in the second half, as they scored some classy tries, but the damage had been done. The teams now needs to regroup after the reality check from the eotional rollercoaster that is 2026. We still need 4 more wins to make the finals. Now to play a a out of form Storm team at home at Homebush, also desperate to remain in the finals race in a critical 4 point turnaround game.

Murray and Duncan injuries

After a tough origin period and a big game back, Murray has finally sercum to the injury. He will be better for a break. Duncan is another who will miss this weeks game with a niggly hamstring injury. It now next man up, again.

Graham-Taufa double

Moala Graham-Taufa continues to improve as each game passes. This week he scored a double running nicely off passes from Glover. He has shifted to right centre and is looking better. His strong running is adding much needed attack options.

Lenoy-Sam double

Lenoy-Sam had a wow of a game at left centre this week. His powerful running and pace broke the line, setting up tries and scoring himself on two occassions. He looks like a strong prospect.

Yaranauma double

Louisa Yaranamua continues to be a dominate figure in our team. He power and quick thinking continues to set or score tries. On the weekend from dummy half she saw two opportunities and scored. She is a big reason why we sit as co-leaders.

Rabbitohs 2026 Injury Crisis

Injuries continue to impeed our ability in 2026. This week we have 16 players on sideline from injury and 2 from suspension. It is almost impossible to field teams with basically a team in the rehab squad across the three grades. This year the club has decided to increase our fringe player pool which has helped significantly with both lower grades in the Top 5. Load management, warm up and warm down and having too many long term injury players on the books continues to be the issue, compounded with the fatigue the new 6 gain rules bring in.

Round 20 - Stat Attack

Statistically it was average game. Completions dropped to 76% from 83% last week. Errors dropped to 12 from 10 last week. We gave away 4 penalties and 1 6-again calls from 9 last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle improved to a good level of 26.8m from 37.4m last week. Our missed tackles dropped to a average level of 31 from 47 last week. Ruck defence Tatola/Hubner-BSmith/Humphreys-Koloamatangi/Radel-Murray/BSmith (4-4-0-2) improved to 10 from 18 missed tackles last week.
