1908 - The Wire from the Hill

1st July 1908

Souths power over Newcastle

Souths have powered over the top of Newcastle in a big 8 tries to 2 win. With 2 rounds remaining and a Top 8 qualifying round, they have secured a Top 4 position.

Cann strong return

A fresh Billy Cann has returned to have a strong impact on the game.

Third bow out

After disappointing season the South Sydney third grade team has not qualified to proceed to the second round of the premiership after they reduced both Second and Third Grade teams to only the best six teams, removing the need for byes after Enfield(second grade) and North Sydney(third grade) withdrew from the competition.

Healthy crowd

Away from representative matches, the crowd at the Agricultural ground was the healthiest we have seen all year. But the public is not supporting club games in similar manner to the representative games.
