At Birchgrove, South Sydney won by 29 points to 5, in the presence ot 6000 people. Balmain, successful with the toss, South Sydney kicked off with the sun in their eyes. Balmain were awarded two free-kicks in succession, and from the second, near the centre, Wall made a good effort at goal. South Sydney immediately made a rush for the line Spence, Cann, McCabe, and Collier handling the ball, but Collier was forced out in the corner. Hilliard relieved Balmain by dribbling the ball to centre, where it was sent out. The visiting pack heeled to Butler, who sent to McCabe, to Gilbert, to Darmody, who attempted to jump over the full-back, but was upset. Again South Sydney heeled, and Butler passed to McCabe, to Gilbert, to Thompson, to Collier, who cut-in, and scored behind the posts. Darmody converted. South Sydney, 5 to nil. Again Butler started his backs from a scrum, passing to Gilbert, to Thompson, to J. Davis, who had followed up smartly, and he scored. Darmody failed with the kick. South Sydney, 8 to nil. The visiting team kept up the pressure. Butler once again got it, and passed to Gilbert, to Cann, who crossed the line. Darmody failed to convert. South Sydney, 11 to nil. South Sydney were penalised, and Johnson, with a pood kick, sent the ball out in their 25. There South Sydney were again penalised, but Wall failed to add a goal. The kick out was knocked on by Geoghegan, but a free kick enabled Balmain to invade their opponents territory, where Thompson was injured, Hucker taking his place. From a scrum Johnson tackled McCabe, who, however, got in his kick, but Wall sent the invaders back with a good kick tbat found the line. Johnson obtained from a scrum, and ran to tbe goal line, where his pass was intercepted by Butler, who passed quickly to Cann, to Nicholls, to Gilbert, who ran to half-way and then passed to Darmody, who scored in the corner. Davis failed with the kick. What a reversal ! S.S., 14 to nil. Half-time.

Immediately after the resumption, Balmain were awarded two free kicks, but both Hilliard and Wall failed in easy shots. At the centre South Sydney were twice penalised, and Cummins made two great kicks for goal, being successful with the second. S.S., 14 to 2. Balmain now began to press, with Moore prominent, but Darmody relieved with a good run. Geoghegan ran into South Sydney 25, and passed to G.Wheatley. who was downed. Davis secured the ball, passed to Cann, to Gilbert, who beat the opposition and scored under the bar. Darmody a goal. S.S., 19 to 2. Again South Sydney attacked, but Balmain were relieved by a force. Wall kicked out to Hucker, who passed to Gilbert, who easily evaded the local back and scored in good position. Darmody another goal. S.S., 24 to 2. South Sydney now eased off somewhat, and W.Hilliard obtaining from the ruck, passed to Dooley, who scored in the corner. Wall failed to convert. S.S., 24 to 5. Play now became very fast, Johnson was upset after a scrum. McCabe secured, and putting in a characteristic run, scored behind the post. Darmody a goal. S.S., 29 to 5. Balmain followed the kick off, but a bad pass by Geoghegan spoilt a good rush. Wall attempted a field goal, but failed. South Sydney, 29 to. 5. L. Kearney referee. G.Boyd and P.Franks, touch judges.

Played at Blrchgrove Oval. From Souths kick-off Balmain worked to the opposite 25, where the ball was dribbled over, Davidson falling on it. Baulkwell failed to add tbe extras. Balmain continued to press, and were almost in on a couple of occasions. A drop-kick by Hansen and a place-kick by Baulkwell narrowly missed. Frank Murphy, who had been playing brilliantly behind Balmain pack, had to leave the field owing to injuries to the back. J.Davidson filled the vacancy., Balmaln led at half-time by 3 to nil. South Sydney's faulty handling did not improve in the second half, Balmain losing, a number of chances through the forwards hesitating to follow on. Souths gradually, worked to Balmain territory, where Anderson secured from the scrum and passed to Downey, to Cohen, who equalised the scores, Dymant attempt to convert was a poor one. After M'Googan (Balmain) had been removed from the field, owing to receiving a severe , scalp wound. Thompson put in a good run from nearly half-way, and scored. Dymant converted. Cohen (South Sydney) was removed shortly afterwards with an injured hip. The game became rough, and ended in favor of South Sydney by 8 to 3.
