Judiciary News

South Sydney second rower David Fa'alogo will plead not guilty to a striking charge at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night. Fa'alogo has little to lose by fronting the judiciary given the Kiwi international was facing a two-match ban whether he took the early plea or not. Fa'alogo received a grade one charge for using an elbow on Sunday, but loading from two prior offences and 30 carry-over points bumped the penalty up to a two-match ban.

South Sydney's David Fa'alogo has been found not guilty of striking after successfully challenging his charge at the NRL judiciary tonight.

Reserve Grade - NSW Cup - Round 16

v Wentworthville, North Sydney Oval, Sat Jul 26 2:30pm

LOSS 20-34

The Bears were flat today and let themselves down with crucial errors which lead to trys. Early in the game Bears mistakes directly led to 3 tries. Richie Retemaina dropped the ball inside his 25. The ensuing set of 6 - Wentworthville scored. A poor kick for touch by Jeremy Smith landed in their wingers hands and in that set Wentworthville again scored. But even for these two mistake the score was only 10 to 14. But a critical moment in the game came just before half time, when Dean Widders drops the ballin our half. Wentworthville then score from and ensuing set of 6, and at halftime its 10-20. After halftime the Bears came out firing and scored a very good try early in the 2nd half. 14-20. Barnesy failed to convert after hitting the post. Then Jeremy Smith flickpass on the 5th tackle right in front of us on the hill for Widders to break, who was about to send Corrigan to score under the sticks, but the referee pulled play back for forward pass. The Bears were fuming, and conceded a penalty as a result of backchat. Wentworthville then scored from the ensuing set of 6. 14-26. Some good solid back and froth by both sides then Bears score a cracker of a try to J.Lowe. 26-20. You sensed Bears right in it but when we had a great attacking chance, both good defence and confusion in attack after Jeremy Smith had been taken out and was on the ground flattened, snuffed out the Bears. Wentworthville went back downfield and received a penalty and smartly pushed it out to 28-20. Bears had a good attacking roll then planted Wenty on their line for the first 4 tackles, they spun it wide but a missed tackle by Vagana allowed then to score. The final score 20-34. And the Bears are now only 2 points clear of Wentworthville.
