10th August 2009

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the signing of State of Origin representative Ben Ross for the 2010 season today, subject to clearance by the Rabbitohs medical staff. His injury will be assessed by the Rabbitohs medical staff however he is expected to pass the fitness tests and play in the red and green next season. Ross is also one of the game’s ‘Good Guys’, working tirelessly in the community and earning the Sharks’ nomination for the Ken Stephen Medal in 2008. “Ben Ross is one of the game’s best front rowers and we’re very pleased to be able to add him to our squad for 2010 pending his clearance by Errol Alcott and the Club’s medical team,” Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said. “To be able to add a player of Ben’s experience, aggression and power to our forward pack for next season is a real coup for the Club and I’m sure all of our Members will be looking forward to seeing him combine with the likes of Roy Asotasi, Michael Crocker, Luke Stuart, Issac Luke, Eddy Pettybourne, Scott Geddes and David Taylor in the red and green next season.” It is reported that Ross is on a incentive based contract of $49K base earning up to $180K depending upon the number of games he plays.
