Merritt Indigenous All-Stars Selection

20th November 2009

Rabbitohs outside back and South Sydney junior Nathan Merritt has been selected in the Indigenous All Stars team to take on the NRL All Stars in the inaugural All Stars game in 2010. The best indigenous Rugby League team has been selected by the fans of the game by public vote to play against the NRL All Stars at Skilled Stadium on the Gold Coast on Saturday 13 February 2010. Merritt was the popular choice for the side, earning the opportunity to represent his people after putting together four consecutive stellar seasons which has seen him rack up 64 tries over the past four years in the red and green. Merritt represented the Prime Minister’s XIII in 2006, the same season he was awarded the Dally M Top Tryscorer of the Year award scoring 22 tries in the season. Merritt, an Alexandria Rovers junior, grew up in the Redfern area and is delighted to be selected in the Indigenous All Stars team. “It’s a great opportunity for me to represent my people and to play with some of the best players in the competition,” Merritt said. “I would like to thank all of the Rabbitohs Members who voted for me to make the team. “I’m really looking forward to playing in the All Stars game, and hopefully I can represent my people and South Sydney in the best way possible.” On behalf of everyone connected with the Rabbitohs, we congratulate Nathan Merritt on his selection in the Indigenous All Stars team.
