2015 - The Cyber View from the Hill

21st January 2015

Shakeup for Season 2015

Well just as we were going to setting into a new 2015 as reigning premiers we see a large voulume of changes that will keep everyone on their toes and focused on season 2015. From front office CEO and CFO changes, to a change in our captain and players only being signed for a training contract, NFL style before they get to be a member of the 25 man NRL squad. The ride will be interesting over the coming weeks.

Welcome club captain GI

A big congratulations to Greg Inglis who has been named club captain for 2015. With John Sutton being sidelined for 6 weeks and his move to teh forwards it was agreed bu Maguire and Sutton that it would be better to handover the captaincy reigns. John Sutton was always a reluctant captain but served the team well.

Thanks Richo

Shane Richardson came to the club 11 years ago in 2004 when Souths were struggling. As CEO hae has been a important member of our Front Office team who has helped shape Souths into the force we know of today. To Shane thank you for your effort and we wish you well in teh future role as Strategy and Development Manager within the NRL.

End of the Burgiiii Era

Early last year Sam signalled his intention to leave teh club and this week Luke has been released. And so ends a special period of 2 years where the 4 brothers Burgiiii stamped their mark on South Sydney history.

Rule Intepretation

The NRL is trying to reduce the wrestle by adjusting teh rule interpretation so that tacklers must do a immediate release. Fans are scepticle how this will work when we have 2 or 3 players in a tackle. There is a concern that this may return us back to teh bad old days of Super League where dummy half running was all the rage.
