2015 - The Cyber View from the Hill

18th March 2015

Double Comeback

Thats a double comeback in the same game. That was a tough game in the office with a quality start followed buy a gutsy finish at the end. But as Maquire said that was a performance not up to our usual standard after losing our way while Reynolds was off with a concussion. This concussion was subject to a lot of media attention after the match. But Back-To-Back remains on track.

Try of the Year

Its only Round 2 and already we have a contender for try of the year. GI fields the ball 109m out beats multiple tacklers, gets out pf his ingoal and then sets up Johnston who runs 80m to score. What a gem.

Sutton and Turner injuries

Good news during the week that Kyles Turner spinal surgery has gone well. After the disk injury he sustained in the All Stars game. We wish him a speedy recovery. While the news is not as good for John Sutton who fractured a cheakbone in the game and will miss 6 weeks.

Talakai collects 20 points

Our point scoring forward/center Siosifa Talakai scoring 2 tries and scored 7 goals to collect 20 points in the big U18 win over Canterbury. A strong future prospect.

MRC Consistentency

As fans all we want is the MRC and the NRL IU to be consistent in their rulings. At the moment it feels like a spin of the wheel when issuing sentences. One week they are tough next week same incident there is no charge. Come on NRL, lets get your house in order.

Round 2 - Stat Attack

Statistically Round 2 was drop on the good round 1 form. Completion rates improved to 77% from 70% last week. Errors improved to average range at 9 from 12 last week. But two errors directly lead to tries. We gave away on 4 penalities this week a big improvement from 10 penalties last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle for the match was down at 35.7m from 30.2m last week. We made 33 missed tackles which was poor and we only allowed 10 opposition offloads.

Looking at our left side defence - Johnston-Goodwin-Keary-Sutton (2-2-2-2) increased again this week with 8 from 6 missed tackles last week. On the right side Reddy-Walker-Reynolds-Stewart (1-0-3-2) increased to 6 from 4 missed tackles last week.

Our go forward improved again to 1448m this week. Johnston, Goodwin, Keary, Reynolds and McQueen lead the way in making 10+m per hitup. With Inglis, Johnston, George Burgess, Tom Burgess, Walker, Goodwin and Tyrrell making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively Stewart was our best in the tackling raking up 51 tackles. With Walker and Grevsmuhl not missing a tackle.
