Inglis SOO II Queensland Selection
9th Jun 2015
Rabbitohs skipper, Greg Inglis, has been named in Queensland’s team to take on New South Wales in Game II of the 2015 State of Origin Series in Melbourne. Inglis will line up for his 26th State of Origin appearance for the Maroons and will play in jumper number three in the centres. Congratulations to both Greg on his selection.
Talakai, Hamlin, Murray and Neill NSW U18 SOO Selection
Four Rabbitohs junior representatives have been selected in the NSW Under 18s 29-man Representative Team to take on Queensland in the curtain-raiser to Origin II on Wednesday 17 June at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Siosifa Talakai, Gabriel Hamlin, Cam Murray and John Neill were all named in coach Todd Payten’s extended squad in preparation for the annual clash. The quartet’s selection comes following an SG Ball season that saw the Rabbitohs make it to the competition Grand Final. Rabbitohs SG Ball Coach, Willie Peters, was proud to hear about the selections today. “This a fantastic reward for these boys,” said Peters. “To have four players selected in the squad is certainly a positive for the Club, especially when you consider the character shown by the SG Ball team in 2015. “These four boys played a big role in setting us on the path to the Grand Final, so to be recognised in this way – it’s a just reward. “The hard work no doubt starts now though if they want to make that final cut.”
Since then Gabe Hamlin has made the final 13 and will start at lock.
Walker NSW SOO II 18th man Selection
Rabbitohs centre, Dylan Walker, has been brought into the NSW VB Blues squad as a shadow player for Origin II. The Souths Junior joins Laurie Daley’s side to provide cover for the outside backs, having already made his Test debut – playing four Tests for the Kangaroos in last year’s Four Nations tournament while also having had representative experience in both the City Country and All Stars formats. “It’s pretty exciting,” said Walker of his call-up. “When you’re a young boy, you just always wanted to play Origin and be the best footballer you can be.
