2016 - The Cyber View from the Hill

13th April 2016

Missed opportunities

It was a tough game where two missed tries cost us the game in a close contest. But a worrying trend this year is our ruck defence. Under the new 6 interchange rule teams are attacking behind the ruck more than ever before. Now for a tough Queensland road trip. Still 10 more wins to qualify for the finals.

Reynolds returns

Welcome back Reyno after his jaw injury we have missed his tactical kicking game defence out wide.

Welcome Blake Solly CEO

We have our new CEO Blake Solly who is returning from his assignement with the English RFL. He completes our front office transition.

Thank You Troy

Troy Thomson has a unsung hero of our recent campaigns as trainer and brought a new level of professionalism to our player health management. He will be missed.

U18s clinch Top 4 birth

Another strong win and our our U18 boys secure their Top 4 finish. Now for a new competition as the boys enter finals football.

ANZ Stadium Rebuild looks great

The state government has completed its deceisons and ANZ Stadium will be transformed from a Olympic oval stadium into a state of the art rectangular stadium. On paper it looks great and a new roof to boot. A premier stadium for a premier team.

Round 6 - Stat Attack

Statistically we again continue to have a defensive problem around the ruck. Completion rates dropped to 79% from 83% this week. Errors increased to 9 from 7 last week. We gave away 3 penalities compared to 8 last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle improved to a average level at 30.1m from 41.3m last week. Our missed tackles improved to 35 missed tackles from 39 last week. But still very poor. Opposition offloads dropped to 9 from 11 last week.

Looking at our left side defence - Goodwin-Auvaa-CWalker-Grevsmuhl (0-2-1-3) improved to 6 from 12 missed tackles last week. On the right side AGray-HHunt-Keary-KTurner (0-1-5-1) improved to 7 missed tackles from 9 last week.

Our go forward this week improved to 1463m. George Burgess and Kyle Turner made 10+m per hitup. With Sam Burgess, Clark, George Burgess, Inglis, Aaron Gray and Goodwin making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively Sam Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 43 tackles. With George Burgess, Aaron Gray and Goodwin not missing a tackle.
