WIN 28-10

South Sydney answered an early challenge from slumping Brisbane to claim a comfortable 28-10 victory in driving rain on Friday night at ANZ Stadium. Souths' seventh win of the season lifted them from eighth to sixth on the ladder heading into next week's road game against the Cowboys, while the Broncos dropped to 3-10 and remain in danger of finishing with the wooden spoon for the first time in club history. The Rabbitohs opened the scoring with Dane Gagai crossing for a well-worked try in the 13th minute. Reynolds converted and extended the lead to 8-0 with a 16th-minute penalty goal. But Brisbane responded with a bang, cleverly creating an overlap down the left corridor for Herbie Farnworth to score. Kotoni Staggs converted to make it 8-6 and the Broncos had the better run of play over the next 10 minutes. The Rabbitohs re-asserted their authority, working their way deep inside Brisbane's territory before being rewarded with a try to Reynolds from a well played kick by Paulo, Reynolds then added the extras for a 14-6 lead. Souths were in again three minutes later, as towering prop Mark Nicholls strolled through paper-thin defence for a try under the posts, with Reynolds booting the simple conversion for a 20-6 half-time lead. The Broncos struck first in the second half after a early error from South Sydney, as David Fifita marked his return from a long layoff with a try. They were almost in again moments later but were denied by desperate goal-line defence. A Reynolds brought up 100 points for the season with a penalty goal in the 49th minute putting the Bunnies ahead 22-10. Soon after off a well placed kick from Walker, had Tom Burgess denied another try when it was waved off by the bunker, before crossing for a rare four-pointer in the 67th minute. Reynolds was on target with the conversion for a 28-10 advantage.

NSWRL Womens Premiership - Round 4

v Cronulla-Sutherland, Cronulla High School Field, Sat Aug 1 11:00am

LOSS 0-16

Late Changes - The Cronulla Sharks have sent an ominous warning to the rest of the competition of their premiership credentials with a resounding 16-0 victory over South Sydney Rabbitohs at Cronulla High School on Saturday. It was billed as a blockbuster Round 4 Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership clash with both teams boasting representative talent – the Sharks lead by NSW Women's Origin fullback Corban McGregor while representative team-mate Shaylee Bent spearheaded the Rabbitohs outfit. However, it was the return of superstar halfback Maddison Studdon that helped the Sharks remain undefeated in 2020, with their defensive efforts just as impressive as their attacking raids as they kept the Rabbitohs scoreless for the entire contest. The scoreline was seemingly generous considering no tries were converted from Cronulla, however, four unanswered tries was enough to cement their dominance over their counterparts. The Sharks have now recorded three consecutive victories to start the new campaign, while South Sydney has recorded just one win from their opening three fixtures.
