The South Sydney Rabbitohs will be heading to Griffith later this month to take on a Group 20 Invitational side in the Club’s first senior match of the 2021 pre-season. The match between the Rabbitohs and Group 20 will be played on Saturday 20 February at 7pm at Solar Mad Stadium in Griffith and will feature a number of the Rabbitohs top 30 players and young up-and-coming stars, coming face-to-face with some of the best footballers from the New South Wales Riverina region. Coach Bennett is excited about bringing his players to a major regional centre of New South Wales. "I think it’s hugely important that we promote the game in the bush because the bush delivers so many great footballers for the elite game at all clubs," Coach Bennett said. "I’m proud of our club for its commitment to regional towns and places like Griffith. This year we will also play the Charity Shield in Mudgee and a competition game in Dubbo. We’re expecting a tough game against the Group 20 side. We’re told there be some experienced, top-level players in their team along with some exciting young guys, so we’ll need to be on our toes and put in an effort on the field that replicates what we’ve been doing at training over the past few months. It’s an important game in our preparation for the season and we’re all looking forward to coming down there and meeting the fans in Griffith and the surrounding towns."
The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their squad for their trial match against the Group 20 Invitational side at Solar Mad Stadium in Griffith this Saturday 20 February at 7pm. Rabbitohs Assistant Coach Jason Demetriou will lead the 20-man squad named to travel to Griffith for the first senior trial match for the Rabbitohs this pre-season. The trial is restricted to players who played less than 12 games in 2020.
